Pearl Harbor is probably the most prolific harbor in the world, thanks to its historical importance in entering the United States into World War II on December 7, 1941 when the Empire of Japan launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, sinking the majority of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Today, the harbor serves as an active deep-water naval base that is home to dozens of U.S. Navy destroyers, cruisers, frigates, and some of the navy’s finest submarines and nuclear defense. Major maintenance for the worldwide Navy fleet is completed at Pearl Harbor as well as several intelligence and administrative tasks. Besides its role as the command of the Pacific and home base for a large Navy fleet, Pearl Harbor also serves as a national historic landmark. The USS Arizona, USS Bowfin, and USS Utah are all on display in the harbor. Recently, the USS Missouri was added. Many of  Oahu real estate for sale are located close to Pearl Harbor in nearby Pearl City and Aiea. The prime, central location is ideal for workers at Pearl Harbor as well as those who commute to the east or west sides of the island for work during the week.
