Ehukai Beach Park

The Ehukai Beach Park also known as the “Reddish Tinged Water” or “Ehukai” houses the well known Banzai Pipeline. The North Shore beach can be one of the most amazing as well as most dangerous in the world for surfing. The waves break furiously off of the shallow reef in the months that cause them to be powerful and steep. During the calmer months normally in the summer and spring swimming is great near the sandbar.

This can be a great place to hang out during the day with family enjoying the views and playing near the shore. Whether your a swimmer or a surfer you will find an area to suit your needs here. Also during the winter months you will find more professional surfers in the area to test out the monstrous waves.

The Ehukai Beach Park offers picnic areas for lounging after a long day of fun. Also the more common amenities are restrooms, showers, and phones. There are lifeguards who are on duty during business hours.

This area is known for a few possible dangers such as strong currents or high surf which again is normally in the winter. Some waves may reach as high as twenty five feet Also stinging Limu may be a problem during June to September. While there are great benefits and beauty to be explored among this beautiful area make sure to do so safely. Follow any safety rules or regulations posted by lifeguards. Avoid any dangerous areas.

Chuns Reef

Chuns Reef is a rocky beach located near Waimea Bay just a bit east. This specific beach during the winter months have waves that are very powerful and large in size. Due to the waves here its known as a premiere surfing area for the more advanced surfers and those who like a challenge.

During the summer its occupied by those who are into swimming, snorkeling, or those who just want to enjoy the lovely view. For those who enjoy watching or observing sea life they often have the chance to see sea turtles close up. They can be seen close to the shorelines.

You can enjoy more of a private atmosphere here due to the lack of amenities and facilities. While you can picnic on the shore or beach there are no designated picnic areas or concession stands. There is no shade normally found on the Chuns Reef or drinking water. Also there is no lifeguards on duty so its a swim at your own risk. While it does have its downfalls this particular area is very beautiful and a must see if vacationing in Oahu.

Make sure to read all warning postings before heading into the water here. Also you should avoid swimming or surfing when the swells are large causing the water to not only be fast but potentially deadly.

Bellows Beach Park

Bellows Beach Park is one of the most well known and respected ocean recreational locations in Oahu. Its very popular not only amongst tourists but locals as well. This particular beach offers tiny consistent shore breaks which is great for those who are just learning to surf. Also there are areas with shallow water that is great for those who love to swim. It also makes it a bit safer for those who have small children who want to wade and splash throughout the lower areas.

The sandy white beach areas are perfect for spending the day reading a good book or playing volleyball with the family. After a long day of swimming or playing around on the shore you can take in the breath taking views while enjoying a lovely picnic in the designated picnic areas. There are also shady areas if you prefer to sit on the actual beach while eating.

There are a few things that you will need to keep in mind when visiting the Bellows Beach Park. First off there are only licensed lifeguards on duty during the weekends, summers and holidays only. Also you will need to be aware of stinging blue jelly fish and stinging Limu from June through September. These are also know as Portuguese Man-of-war. Also there is no surfing permitted along the area of the lifeguard stands. Make sure to always read any warnings posted throughout the area.

Ali’s Beach Park

Ali’s Beach Park which is also known as the “Royal” Beach is great for surfing and swimming. Many individuals prefer to relax on their sandy beaches compared to others. For the best swimming its recommended that you stick with the south side of the beach which has a smaller more protected area designated just for swimmers. Those who surf on this beach regularly claim that this particular beach has some of the best waves on the island. Tourist love the fact that the Royal Beach was used to create a popular television show named, Baywatch Hawaii.

The amenities found on this beach is similar to what most offer including picnic areas, sandy beaches, lifeguards on duty and restrooms. Its also noted that it does in fact have some of the best swimming areas when the water is calm. Also its one of the most recommended surfing areas if you ask a local.

As always make sure to check weather conditions regularly and only swim or surf in areas designated to what your interested in. Its possible that large waves may occur more during the winter months so this is something you will want to take into consideration. Be aware of jagged rocks or sharp coral that may be located near the shallow reef areas. Always obey any warning flags or signs that can post any type of danger areas.

This beach can be a great place to spend an evening relaxing in the sun with your family or alone.

Ala Moana Beach Park

The beautiful Hawaii beaches are exquisite and a must see if your a tourist. The beaches of Oahu are amazing. One of the most well known beaches in this area is the Ala Moana Beach Park also known as “The Path to the Sea”. Its located near the south shore which is west to another popular beach area called the Waikiki. The Ala Moana Beach park is an astounding 76 acres and noted for its wonderful surfing, swimming, and body boarding. This beach offers picnic facilities that is not only shaded but offers many grass areas that are perfect for a family outing or barbecue.

If your looking for a place to spend the day along relaxing or with a family beach outing this could be the perfect location for you. For those individuals you may relax in the sun while enjoy reading a good book or working on your suntan. You will have a great time playing volleyball or just building sandcastles with your children. There is a variety of amenities and services that are included at this beach including restrooms, showers, BBQ grills, phones, free parking, picnic areas, and even a concession stand to grab a cold drink or snack from.

This beach also has lifeguards who are on duty but you should also be aware of any safety regulations that’s attached to swimming at any beach. You should not swim near the boat channels that’s located on both sides of the beach park. At times there are strong undercurrents and tidal changes may be swift. Also its possible that there may be jagged rocks or sharp coral located in the boat channel areas so do your best to avoid them.
